Cigar Transmission #026
ARGANESE TARGET 2 of 6
My Name is Agent 10, and my mission was to hunt down, capture and interrogate the Arganese Maduro Robusto, by Arganese Cigars. As an asset of The Cigar Spy agency I promise to respect the A.S.H.E.S. code of honor. These are the facts; This is my debriefing.
Target:
Arganese Maduro Robusto

Target Vitals:
Size: 5 x 50 Robusto
Wrapper: Maduro, Brazilian Matafina
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
Background:
Surprise! This is not a Nicaraguan smoke. The Arganese Maduro Robusto is comprised of Dominican filler, an Indonesian binder, and a Brazilian Matafina maduro wrapper that glistens with oil. This cigar is 5″ long and 50. The sweetness you expect in a maduro cigar is present throughout and is complemented by pepper, wood, earth, and dark cocoa. The Arganese Maduro Torpedo was given a rating of 87 by Cigar Aficionado and I agree that it is one good stick. Do not be off put by the veiny appearance of the Brazilian wrapper, it’s quite tasty. ~Tex Cigars
Many Thanks to my friends over at Tex Cigars for supplying the info for this target!
Mission Notes:
Appearence: This target had medium sized veins running to-and-fro through it’s chocolate colored wrapper. Upon closer inspection it was found this cigar was slightly toothy, a characteristic I generally like. After cutting I found that the cap had completely fallen off and the cigar began to unravel:

Flavors: After cutting, I found the pre-draw to be slightly fruity, like dried apricots or plums. The draw was a bit too resistant for me, and too little more work than I would have liked to smoke it. Upon lighting, I got a base of earthy tones with cocoa nuances. From time to time I could taste toasted almonds which was syrupy and chewy on the palate. I’d say due to the mouth feel that this was a Medium body cigar. The burn was razor sharp, and the ash held for about an inch before falling into my ash tray. Around the last third the cigar became harsh, and I tried to purge it. Purging got rid of the harsh bitter flavor, but also got rid of the good flavors. I put her down soon afterwards.
Final Statement:
Construction wise, this cigar completely failed. While the draw was a small nusance, the unraveling of the cigar itself was simply unforgiveable. The flavors were better, however. Had it not been for that last third, This would have been a perfectly good cigar flavor-wise. Unfortunately, I cannot forget the unraveling as wel as the harsh-ness and simply cannot recommend this cigar.
Until Next week,
Clean Cuts and Thick smoke Everyone!

My local B&M was trying to push these on me the other day. I’m glad I managed to resist. Great review, thanks!
Good interrogation on the cigar, but it does seem like that a dud got through to you. Maybe give this one a second chance down the road?
