Arganese Double Wrap Robusto

Cigar Transmission #024

Arganese Target: 1 of 6

My name is Agent 10.  My mission was to review the Arganese Double Wrap Robusto, by Arganese Cigars. As an asset of The Cigar Spy agency I promise to respect the A.S.H.E.S. code of honor. These are the facts. This is my debriefing.

Target Name:

Arganese Double Wrap Robusto

Target Vitals:

Size: Robusto

Wrapper: Brazilian Maduro and Connecticut

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican

Price: 109.99 at TexCigars for a box of 20

Background Info:

Colloquially a “barber pole cigar” the Arganese Double Wrap Robusto is a very complex cigar that is sure to surprise. The Brazilian maduro and the Connecticut wrappers complement each other well and the flavors change throughout the cigar. Cream, wood, and grass trade prominence with pepper, cocoa, coffee, and sweetness. The Arganese Double Wrap Robusto is 5 inches long by 50 ring gauge. This medium smoke should be on every cigar smoker’s “to try” list. The Arganese Double Wrap Robusto may not burn evenly due to the different oil content of the wrappers but should not require touch ups. – Tex Cigars.com

Mission Notes:

First of all I want to Thank my friend Matt at TexCigars for providing these cigars to review.

This cigar comes adorned with a elegant band in a red hue- it sits regaly atop the flawless Connecticut and Brazilian Maduro Wrappers. The cap is done very well; astetically this cigar looks impecible.  It is filled evenly from head to foot and is not too hard but not too soft.

After cutting and lighting the cigar, I noticed a creamy chocolate flavor, followed by tobacco.  The finish was creamy but bland.  I would put it in the mild body category. As the cigar progressed, I tasted hints of toast. The burn, as stated above was uneven, however contrary to the background by Tex Cigars, I did have to do touch ups…often. It was a mild irritant.

Final Statement:

Overall, this was an OK cigar. it reminded me alot of the Cibao and the JPG Fumadores. I would say for the prices, you might want to check out the JPG Fumadores before buying these. Other than that, these cigars deliver creamy flavors that one would expect to find in a barber pole cigar.
Join me next Monday for the second installment of of six part Arganese Cigar tour.

Until then, Clean Cuts and Thick Smoke Everyone,

-10
