A couple of weeks ago, I met up with two great guys @jcruz and @doc8466. We headed out to W. Curtis Drapers to hang out, smoke and pay a visit to Pete Johnson. He’s a great guy, we all love his cigars and when he’s in town, I definitely go out to show some love. While I was there, he approaches me and shows me a gorgeous cabinet and inside are a bunch of La Riqueza Petit Robusto. I was blown away with how great they looked and the presentation. The next thing I know he tells me, “take one, but keep it on the hush.” Well, I did, up until now (lol). Thanks Pete!
I forgot to take a better picture to show you the size of the cigar and how cool it looks, but I did take a short little video.
I’m getting an enormous aroma from the wrapper before the light up. It smells like a strong heavy leather jacket, which is actually very nice. It’s a very dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and super oily, you can see it’s shine its so oily. Of course, the main thing that i love about the appearance of the cigar is it’s size. According to Sir Pete Johnson of Tatuaje the dimensions are exactly the same as the Petit Edmundo. Let’s see if its just as good.
POWERFUL. This cigar has a big kick to it. Lots of peppery spice right off the bat, not overwelming, but it’s definitely there. Undertones of dark roasted leather with a nice and long white peppery finish. I can’t tell you how much smoke is coming out of this cigar, but believe me when i say it’s a lot! I’m mentioning it because it enhances the flavors a lot. There’s isnt to much complexity in this cigar. It’s pretty much a a powerful, (but soft), white and black peppery spice flavor to the cigar with a long lasting finish. Spice is a great flavor, when it delivers like this, its just the right amount and i want to see it was blended to perfection.
Like all Pete Johnson cigars, the quality of this cigar was to perfection. Great draw, great burn, a cigar that produces a ton of smoke and a fun ash. The ash lasted all the way to the band right before it fell off to the ground. Check out the picture.

Compared to the other vitolas of La Riqueza, which at some point I smoked each one, this Petit Robusto is not so much “different” in flavor, but way more powerful. After the strong kick slowly fades away, you get the same flavor profile as the other vitolas in the La Riqueza blend.
All in all, its a great smoke. My advice to you, do not let the size fool you, this cigar is a POWER HOUSE! And the great thing about it, it doesn’t waste one second to get going. As soon as you take that first puff, the party has started. It’s one of those cigars that delivers from the moment you start the toast up. I’m not sure when they come out, or if maybe there available in some places, but soon as i do. I’ll post something in the comments.
