Los Blancos Primos Maduro (Robusto)

Target: 1 of 6 in a series

I need to say a big thank you to Amanda from the Los Blancos Cigar Company over on Facebook for capturing and transporting these targets to my location somewhere in West Virginia. They are safe and being held on lockdown in a cedar enclosure.

The first to be interrogated is the Primos Habano Criollo Maduro.

Name: Los Blancos Primos Maduro

Size: 5″ x 52 (Robusto)

Wrapper: Nicaragua

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua, Peru, Honduras

Body/Strength: Tap dancing nuns (Med-Full)

So for what’s considered by Los Blancos to be a “Permium bundle” cigar, this target is very rustic looking. More bundle than premium to my spy eyeballs. Speaking of eyeballs, I remember back in Spy Middle School when I used to make fun of the nerdy kids for wearing glasses. Then, one horrible day in 7th grade, I noticed I couldn’t see the chalkboard anymore from the back of the room. I’ve been incognito ever since, with contacts, and a hatred for 2-eyed people.

Anyway, this cigar is very rough to the appearance. Large veins run the length. The cap is mishapen and gnarly. Much like myself after 4 hours of sleep and no coffee. I’m somewhat worried about how this will smoke. Let’s start the interrogation!

Great draw, nice solid ash (2″ before first ash fell off), fantastic burn for how it looks.

So the flavors after cutting and lighting are better than the appearance would suggest. It’s sorta like Shrek. Scary dude on the outside, loving ogre on the inside. That’s what she said. Earthy, somewhat woody. Maybe dark chocolate? Fairly complex on my palate for a bundled cigar. Medium to full, more medium though.

I’d say that if you’re looking for a “cheaper” everyday cigar with some decent flavors and you enjoy Maduro wrappers, definitely try this. For me though, it just doesn’t’ contain the flavor profile I track down in most Maduro targets.

Total Points: 83

Agent Tip #15: When bringing the funk to a party, be sure to shower as to not confuse it with the other kind.

Nice review. I’ve gained a new love or criollo lately but don’t think I’ve had any maduro criollo. Can you compare the maddy v natural?

    Doc,

You’re one step ahead! My next review will be the natural wrapper! Hopefully I remember to compare them.
