Puros Indios

Puros Indios

You may be asking yourself where I’ve been by actually saying “Hmmm I wonder where that Agent 6 fellow is”. Or if you’re in my neck of the woods “Dadgummit, where is that stoopid feller?”. Either way, I have some explaining to do…oh, and sir, when you say “stoopid feller” next time, please tuck in your teeth.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I was brutally attacked by calories, carbs, and beer. Well, not so much attacked by, but… encouraged by? Yeah that’s it. So I have fully recovered from my hiatus and ready to start the hunt for these illusive targets again.

So in between consciousness(es) I was able to track down this Puros Indios without much of a struggle. Here is what it had to tell me…

Name: Puros Indios

Size: 6″ x 53 (Toro Especial)

Wrapper: Ecuador

Binder: Ecuador

Filler: Brazil, Dominican, Nicaragua

Strength: Me in a battle tank (Medium? What?)

Construction:

Somewhat spongey throughout, makes me wonder if this cigar was rolled properly… There are also a few dips in the wrapper when squeezing it. Otherwise, no serious flaws or asthetic defects. The draw is very very loose.

Flavors:

I don’t even know how to describe the flavors and room aroma coming from this cigar. That’s rare, because I’m typically full of it enough to make up some lame description. I’m not sure if it’s the mixed filler or the Ecuadorian wrapper that’s really giving off this aroma, but it’s fantastic. I can say it’s very complex and rich. Leathery but not like licking the driver’s seat in a Lamborghini. Agent 15 doesn’t care for these cigars, but I’m thinking I do. Uh oh… I mean…. oh crap, there went my holiday bonus.

Outcome:

The Puros Indios was a confusing target, full of many different flavors and aromatic room notes. Perhaps I need to pursue more Ecuadorian-wrapped villains in order to better understand this cigar. For now, I suppose I’ll keep my eye out for it once my palette matures. Speaking of things maturing, I suppose I should clean out the fridge… I’m not about to ward off reanimated Roast Beef.

Agent Tip #10: If you decide to enter an Altoids mint-eating contest, be sure to drool on your opponent as a distraction.

Puros Indios will always have a special place in my rotation. The Pyramid #1 (not sure if they even make it anymore) is my Memorial Day smoke in rememberance of my Grandparents and a beloved pet who all passed near the end of May a few years apart. Back in the boom, they were in my top 3 smokes, and I still enjoy them when I’m in the mood for a medium and complex smoke. Thanks for the review #6!

Thanks for the review. I have always been afraid to try these cigars. The band always reminded me of a Mr. Yuck sticker.
