The Good, The Bad, and The Quick Smoke:Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Miniatures

Agent 10-Mission De-Briefing Transmission #006

The first snow came today. Walking around campus, I really had no inclination or desire to smoke. That is, until I saw the small tin in my humidor. After class, I walked briskly back up the hill to my dorm, but not before I took out the small 3 x 22 HdM Excalibur Minature and lit it up. To anyone who thought that this dry cured, and most likely machine made cigar was simply smoked for the sake of getting it out of the way, I tell you, you’re wrong.

After lighitng this small cigar, I immediatley tasted a pronounced coffee flavor. Then, a not unpleasant, hay/straw like flavor came in and became the base flavor for the rest of this quick smoke. Subtle coffee notes were still there, as well as a creamy almond or hazelnut flavor lingered in and out. To tell you the truth, I was honestly surprised at how much flavor this little guy had. Not to mention the body! This mini cigar fell very snuggly into the medium-full/robust range. Even the ash held on longer than I thought it would for such a small ring gauge. As to be expected, smoking this cigar too fast meant harshness and bitterness for the smoker. However, slow, even paced draws kept the wonderful flavors in check; right where they should be. I soon found my self at the end of the nub, and unable to hold on too much longer. with a final puff, I laid her to rest.

Recommendation: These smokes are simply too flavorful to not be enjoyed when you only have a couple of minutes. OR maybe your too busy for a regular cigar, but need a couple minutes of relaxation; well, these quick smokes are the way to go. Grab a tin, sit back, and relax.
