Padron 1926

Padron 1926

Strength: Just Perfect
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Style: No. 9

The Padron 1926 comes with a beautiful soft textured wrapper and with little black dots of detail. There’s a smell of rich tobacco and a soft cedar smell to it as well. The wrapper is then dressed with a simple, but elegant label that compliments the appearance of the cigar very nicely. Also on the label you’ll find the number of authenticity, which was pretty cool to me.

Quality is all over the appearance of the cigar. The wrapper is in excellent condition with lots of plume action and little crystal spots of bloom from the foot to the cap. It feels strong and well packed of tobacco. While im not a big fan of box pressed cigars, this cigar is perfectly rolled and ready to be smoked.

The 1926 starts off very flavorful with flavors of Sweet Wood, Rich Dark Leather and dashes of Nuts and Pepper on the finish. By the second third the Woodsy flavors increase and remain very sweet. There were no major changes in the flavor department besides the increase of the Sweet Wood, but the flavors you get from the start are consistent and very rich in flavor. I didn’t find any specific flavor to be dominant, there all just there and given to you all at once. Which to me is fantastic because it just fills your palate with a great taste. Besides the Illusione and Don Pepin Cuban Classic, this cigar has the perfect touch of a “peppery/spice” flavor.

The ash is fun to watch burn and the quality of the wrapper is seen in the ash with little “tasty goosebumps”. It also comes with a very white “sugar army ash”, never flaky and strong till the half way point before coming off. The draw is excellent and then burn could have not been any better if I wanted it too.

I’m a big fan of the 1964 and in comparing the two, I think the 1964 is the better one. You get the same quality, same great cigar, but a richer flavor. However, I still believe this is a Top 10 cigar. I still believe everyone in some time in their life needs to smoke a Padron 1926 as well as the 1964. These are amazing quality cigars with tons of flavor that will bring pleasure to a mild or full body smoker. I highly recommend any Padron cigar, from the 2000 to the 80th anniversaries.

Final Note & Quick little story: When I started smoking, the Padron 2000 was the first cigar that gave me butterflies in my stomach. That made me go “wow, this is amazing”. It made me feel like I was a big time cigar connoisseur and it brought a new life and a new feel to cigar smoking for me. Up to that point I wasn’t happy with anything I was smoking, but that all changed with the Padron 2000. And the best part of it all, it was a $3.00 cigar. When smoking the 1926 I got that same great feeling again, the only difference is, this is far from a $3.00 cigar (lol). In other words, anytime you smoke a Padron cigar, it’ll be a great experience.

Final Grade: A
