CAMACHO SLR MADURO
Strength: Full
Wrapper: Honduras
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras
Style: Robusto
From the look of the cigar the first thing to catch my eyes is the bright label. It’s a reddish-orange color with gold font and it makes the wrapper stand out and appear even more darker. It also shows, what I call “tasty goosebumps”, good health and great quality.
Smelling the foot of the cigar I picked up rich tobacco. The wrapper was a little different, smelling limey and peppery. The cut on the cap was smooth, clean and left a salty taste in my mouth. So far so good, lets get on with the flavors.
The SLR Maduro starts off very peppery and with a flavor similar to Cocoa Puffs Cereal. I was so happy with the taste that I ran inside and made me some Café con Leche. The Café for the tobacco and pepper and the Leche for the Cocoa Puffs. By the second third, the flavors pick up in strength and also become richer with leather notes and a cocoa undertone finish. The cocoa taste is very pleasant and a nice touch to the cigars flavor profile. After the first third, the peppery taste fades away, but comes back from time to time very lightly through out the cigar. By the end, you’ll experience a wonderful balance of cocoa, leather and the right touch of pepper. The flavor profile isn’t’ the best when it comes to Maduros, but its still very good and consistent.
I mentioned the “tasty goosebumps” on the wrapper. You can also see them in the ash, just another example of the great quality in this cigar. The burn like all Camacho’s was perfect and the draw was no different. Another well made cigar from Camacho.
This cigar is good. The flavors are great and it goes amazingly well with coffee. Because of its strength and full body flavors, im only going to recommend this cigar to full body smokers. A perfect cigar after a big dinner at the end of night.
Final Note: I’m going to place this cigar as my 3rd favorite Camacho. The Camacho Corojo Maduro being my first and the Camacho Coyolar being my second. I still haven’t reviewed the Triple Maduro yet, but that’s next.
Final Grade: B-
P.S.: It’s on the good side.
